As I said before, it's extremely hard for me to post during the week. I'm in two art studios at the moment and those take up 90% of my time. Actually, at the moment I'm working on some extra credit for my printmaking class,
This is what I'm currently working on, right now it's just a pencil drawing on a 1 1/2 in. thick piece of plywood, soon it will be carved and inked and put onto a t-shirt, this is also why it is backwards.
The image the idea is taken from. This image is actually taken from an entirely different image, one that I'm currently in the middle of etching into a copper plate to print:
And this is the image where it all started from. the original concept is that a monster child is afraid of the human in his closet. The actual print will be WAY more developed and it's already insanely better than this, sadly, it is not done.

Ok, I'll be honest, these last two posts have been lazy posts. It's so much harder for me to come up with deep and meaningful posts during the week because I'm constantly worried about my art studios. But heres another one from my view today.
Working on an idea for my wood block for printmaking. The drawing on the left is a drawing of the etching I'm working on for that class. The drawing on the right is what I'm considering for my wood cut.
My big ol' bear bear. We just got him yesterday but already he loves laying by me in our closed in porch while I work on my art and homework. He's a big lover.

I have a 1 1/2 year old son who I want to show the world to. One of the big things in my world is art. While I have finger paints for him and will let him sit in his high chair painting, that never felt like just the right way to let him express his creativity fully.
The other day I decided that we would paint together. One of my favorite mediums to work with is acrylic paint. So I grabbed a sheet of bristol paper, stuck one of my old t-shirts on him, put paint on plates all around us and we got to work.
For this first time I figured we'd both just use our hands and see how it went. Next time I definitely want to bring in some different brushes and even a few other things just to see what he creates with it.

Needless to say, we got a little messy.

Our finished piece. I'm really excited with how it turned out. There was a lot of mixing colors everywhere and flinging colors and slapping the paper. It was a really good experience overall and I'm glad that my little man enjoyed it as much as I did. Anytime he'd get a little bored and start to walk away I'd ask if he was done and he'd run back and start painting again. :)
