Creating With my Kiddo
11:00 AM I have a 1 1/2 year old son who I want to show the world to. One of the big things in my world is art. While I have finger paints for him and will let him sit in his high chair painting, that never felt like just the right way to let him express his creativity fully.
The other day I decided that we would paint together. One of my favorite mediums to work with is acrylic paint. So I grabbed a sheet of bristol paper, stuck one of my old t-shirts on him, put paint on plates all around us and we got to work.
For this first time I figured we'd both just use our hands and see how it went. Next time I definitely want to bring in some different brushes and even a few other things just to see what he creates with it.
Our workspace.
Needless to say, we got a little messy.
My little man was having a ball.
Our finished piece. I'm really excited with how it turned out. There was a lot of mixing colors everywhere and flinging colors and slapping the paper. It was a really good experience overall and I'm glad that my little man enjoyed it as much as I did. Anytime he'd get a little bored and start to walk away I'd ask if he was done and he'd run back and start painting again. :)

I think it's neat to have him experience art at an early age!
