The Artist Buyer Relationship.

So I found the above image on facebook, it had originally been posted by Jessilyn Park Art Studio (so I take absolutely no credit for this lovely image). It had been shared by some art thing I follow and it really stood out to me. I sell my art. I even recently gave away a piece to be used in a charity auction. While I think people can appreciate art even if they themselves aren't artists, I don't think they really get the bond an artist has with their piece.
I went horseback riding a few years ago and the leader of our trail ride and I really hit it off. I mentioned how I was studying art and that got her talking about all the art she has done. Sadly I don't remember her name but i remember the love in which she talked about each and every one of her pieces, and this lady did some detailed sculptures let me tell you. She mentioned how difficult it was for her to give up her pieces and how if she ends up selling them, she gives them to a gallery she knows very well to sell them.
No matter if you paint, sketch, sculpt, or mix it all together, you're art is a part of you. It can be a place to vent, or it can be somewhere you put your hopes and dreams. Every time I sell a piece I get a little bit sad. This lovely work that I spent so much time creating is now gone. Forever. It's a big relief when I hear from the buyer how much they love it and why it means so much to them. So if you buy art? Let your artist know how much you love it and how much you appreciate them for making it!

I would totally agree-- Whatever comes out of the creative process is part of you!
